I Added Some New Items To My Etsy Shop

I hope you're having a great day!
I just added a few new items to my Etsy shop and I thought I would share them with you!

I'm really enjoying making these Wipe Cases.  They have baby wipes in them.  You can also use them as a clutch, just pop in a lipstick, some money and your I.D. and you're ready to go!!  I've given a few as gifts and always get ooo's and ahhh's!

I've just restocked my Twisted Rose hairclips.  The are hand twisted and accented with Swarovski Crystals.  They clip in your hair with an alligator clip and look super cute on a sweater, jacket or purse.
Just click on the name under each picture and it will take you directly to the Esty listing!

Don't Forget, Christmas is just four months away!

Obsessive Monday - Halloween

I've recently been obsessed with Halloween.  I've been scouring Pinterest for Halloween images.
If you're not familiar with Pinterest it is an amazing place to get lost in, whether you're looking for recipes, crafting ideas, decorating ideas or even fashion, you can find all kinds of inspiration there.  The great thing is you have your own "boards" where you can "pin" things you like and it will link back to the original source of the image.  So if you find a recipe you like, pin it and when you want to make it, just click on the pin and voila...there's your recipe!

Here are a few of my favorite Halloween images...

Mummy Cakes - bhg.com

I hope you've enjoyed by Halloween obsession.  If you're not a part of Pinterest yet and would like to join, email me with "Pinterest" in the subject line and I'll send you and invite.

Hmmm...what shall I obsesse about next week??

Enjoy!

Taco Seasoning Mix

So recently I've been on a very restricted diet. There are many things I'm not eating, one of them being sugar.  I wanted to make chicken tacos for my family but the funny thing is, you can't find a seasoning packet that doesn't have sugar in it (at least not easily and not at your neighborhood grocery store.
I went on a search, an internet search and found a taco seasoning recipe via
Taco Seasoning Mix
2 teaspoons 10mlInstant minced onion
1 teaspoon 5mlChili powder
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlCrushed dried red pepper (I didn't have these, used some Cayenne)
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlDried oregano
1 teaspoon 5mlSalt
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlCornstarch (Can't have corn, didn't use)
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlInstant minced garlic (Didn't have either, used garlic powder)
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlGround cumin

Recipe Instructions

The ingredients above make about 2 Tablespoons of taco seasoning - enough for 1 lb. ground beef, or 8 - 10 tacos. Increase the amounts in proportion to make more. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and blend well. Store the seasoning mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Will keep for 6 months.
To Prepare Taco Filling:
Brown 1 lb lean ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat; drain off the grease. Add 1/2 cup water and 2 Tablespoons of the seasoning mix. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I made mine into a chicken taco salad.

Next mission...Sugarless Ranch Dressing...stay tuned!

Project Belwop

I'm so honored to work with some amazing young adults at my church in Mesa, Arizona.

For the past couple of years, we have been raising money for Project Belwop (click on the Project Belwop tab).  The money will benefit Belwop Children's Rescue Center is in Nyeri, Kenya, where Veronica Mumbi, the owner and caretaker has been housing orphans in a run down facility.   She has been given a plot of land on which to build a new facility that will house 100 orphans.  Next summer some of our young adults will be going to Kenya to help build the new orphanage.

We are so close to reaching our goal and are pressing to accomplish that by the end of September. One of the ways we're doing that is with a little friendly competition between our community groups.  Our group, The Vibe, made bottle cap necklaces with two different images of Africa in the center.  I thought I would share some of the fun with you!

Our beautiful Kforb, modeling one of the necklaces.

We're selling them 1 for $6 or 2 for $10.  If you're interested in one, please email me at reneepetermann@gmail.com. Shipping will be $1.
If you're interested in donating to Project Belwop go to

My Weekend

This past weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to help out one of my BFF's, Lisa, at her very first show for her skin care line, Lily & Co., at The Sealed Conference in Tucson, Arizona.  She was kind enough to let me bring along some of my jewelry and hair creations.

I just love the logo they created!

Lisa developed this line because she is passionate about women breaking free from Human Trafficking and wanting to provide a quality product without harmful ingrediants and chemicals.  25% of the proceeds go directly to the support of Human Trafficking victims.

A few of the organizations Lisa supports are, Streetlight - Phoenix, Destiny's House - Las Vegas, Treasures - LA, Cakes of Love - Phoenix and Call + Response, Fair Trades Pics.

Lisa asked me to make some cupcakes since one of the groups she is involved in takes cupcakes into some of the places they serve. We were able to raise a bit more money and give the ladies a little sweet treat with their lunches.

Now mind you, we live in the Phoenix area and were staying in Tucson.  That's about two hours from my house, and we have temperatures over 100 degrees. We didn't want them to melt or get messed up while traveling.  I came up with this fantastic idea of baking them ahead of time, freezing them and making the frosting ahead of time too.  You may not know that it works to make frosting a couple of days before you need it but then you have to use a mixer and rebeat it to make it nice and fluffy again. Since were were staying in a hotel, I had to bring my Kitchen Aide mixer, you should have seen the bellman's face.  I was able to fluff the frosting up before we left the hotel and frost them at the church we were at.

One of the highlights was meeting Kalin Hemphill, model winner of Project Runway Season 6. What a sweet, beautiful, committed Christian young woman!!  She was so kind and patient as we tried to get a good picture of all three of us.

On Saturday afternoon, Kalyn spoke.  She's moved to L.A. and is pursuing her dream of acting but is holding fast to her Christian standards and will only take parts that are honoring to God.

I came away with a renewed passion to be the person God created me to be.

So how was your weekend??

Beachy Hair Curls Tutorial

I first heard about Pink Bow Bath Boutique through GroupDealz where I bought some of their amazing handmade Whipped Body Frosting.  I then met the lovely and charming Amy, the owner and creator of these yummy products, at Creative Estates where she was selling her products.  We started talking and have developed a Facebook friendship.
She was recently featured on Sonoran Living Live, a Phoenix morning show, where she shared how to make these fun, easy, cool (as in not so warm) Beachy Curls.

I wanted to give them a try and decided to share with you the super simple technique!

I started with her Lovely Leave-In Conditioner in Sea Island Grapefruit.
I let my hair dry on it's own for a while and finished with the blow dryer ( I have super thick hair).  It actually works the best on dry hair.

1. I sprayed Revitalizing Hair Protein Mist, it contains sea salt and helps with the beachyness through out my hair.
2. Put a stretchy headband around my head hippy style.  I pulled my bangs out and over the top.
3. I then started taking one inch sections, pulling them over the top of the band and down.
4. Continue working from each side all the way to the back (the back gets a little tricky but you can do it.
5. & 6. How it looks when it's done.  The nice thing it, you look kind of cute while it's "curling".

I let mine stay in for about an hour and a half  I would have let it stay longer but I had to take my daughter to get her hair done.

Gently unwrap everything, I finger combed mine and then let sprayed it with Amy's Body Boosting Hair Spray.

Ta Daa!!  My curls!!
Thank you Amy for letting me share my results!!
By the way..Amy has so many yummy fragrances.  You really need to try her products! Be sure and tell her "Renee' sent you"!
Products were bought by me and permission granted for me to share this tutorial.  All views are mine.
